François Madore

Les travaux du Dr Madore portent principalement sur les conséquences de l'insuffisance rénale chronique notamment la survenue des maladies cardiovasculaires associées à l'insuffisance rénale. En effet, les patients souffrant d'insuffisance rénale chronique présentent une fréquence élevée de maladies cardiovasculaires. À l'aide de banques de données, l'équipe du Dr Madore tente d'évaluer le rôle de biomarqueurs (génétiques ou autres) comme prédicteurs d'événements cardiovasculaires. Il s'agit donc d'évaluer l'impact des biomarqueurs afin de pouvoir mieux prédire parmi les sujets souffrant d'insuffisance rénale quels sont ceux qui risquent de développer des événements cardiovasculaires ou ceux qui vont évoluer vers la dialyse. 

Dr. Madore a complété sa formation en médecine et en néphrologie à l’Université de Montréal. Il a ensuite obtenu une maîtrise en épidémiologie au Harvard School of Public Health à Boston.

Dr Madore est présentement professeur titulaire au département de médecine à l’Université de Montréal et néphrologue à l’Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal. Dr Madore a été directeur du centre de recherche de l’Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal et directeur du consortium de recherche en néphrologie de l'université de Montréal.

Les principaux intérêts de recherche du Dr Madore sont les biomarqueurs et les complications cardiovasculaires chez les patients avec insuffisance rénale terminale. Depuis quelques années, ses subventions de recherche proviennent du Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec, des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada et de la Fondation canadienne du rein.

Dr Madore est l’auteur de plus de 100 articles et abrégés dans des revues scientifiques surtout en néphrologie et en cardiologie.
